Legal
Terms of Service
Effective date: September 10, 2026. These pages describe the current CanWeChat service at canwechat.dev. They are not a substitute for legal advice. Contact hello@canwechat.dev for questions.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of CanWeChat, the hosted website live-chat service operated at canwechat.dev (the “Service”). By creating an account, starting a trial, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself or the organization you represent.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service. For privacy practices see the Privacy Policy. For processing of customer visitor content see the Data Processing Addendum.
2. Who we are
CanWeChat is the commercial name of the Service offered via canwechat.dev. Notices and support: hello@canwechat.dev. Security reports: security@canwechat.dev. Billing entity details appear on invoices issued by our payment processor where applicable.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and able to form a binding contract. If you create a workspace for a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company. Keep login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your workspace.
4. The Service
CanWeChat provides:
- A lightweight chat widget for one website per workspace.
- One active reply destination at a time: CanWeChat inbox, Slack, Discord, or Telegram.
- Optional signed webhook relay to a URL you control.
- Workspace tools for conversations, domains, integrations, team invites, export, and deletion.
CanWeChat is not a full helpdesk, CRM, or marketing automation suite. Features may change; we will not reduce core paid entitlements during a paid billing period without notice except for legal or security reasons.
5. Trial
New workspaces receive a 3-day free trial of the full product. No payment card is required to start. When the trial ends without an active Pro subscription, the public widget stops accepting new visitor messages; existing conversation history remains accessible in the dashboard according to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
6. Subscription, renewal, and taxes
After trial, continued visitor messaging requires CanWeChat Pro at $19 USD per month per workspace (one website), billed through Dodo Payments. Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Prices are shown before checkout. Taxes/VAT may be collected by Dodo Payments where required. Failed payments may suspend visitor messaging until resolved.
Checkout redirect URLs are not proof of payment. Entitlement updates only from verified payment-provider webhooks.
7. Cancellation and refunds
Cancel anytime from the dashboard Billing page via the Dodo Payments customer portal. After cancellation, you retain access through the end of the current paid period; we do not continue charging after a confirmed cancellation takes effect.
Refunds: Monthly fees already charged are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we determine a billing error occurred. Contact hello@canwechat.dev within 14 days of a disputed charge. Trial usage is free; there is nothing to refund for unused trial days.
8. Fair use and limits
Pro includes fair use of 10,000 visitor messages per calendar month, with a hard stop for new visitor sends at 12,000. Agent replies and history remain available when the hard stop is reached. Abuse, scraping, or attempts to bypass limits may result in suspension.
9. Your responsibilities
- Own or control the domains you authorize for the widget.
- Provide any visitor notices/consents required by law for chat and identity data you collect.
- Keep Slack/Discord/Telegram and webhook credentials secure.
- Do not send unlawful, harmful, or deceptive content through the Service.
- Do not attempt to access other customers’ data or disrupt the Service.
10. Acceptable use
You may not use CanWeChat to:
- Send spam, phishing, malware, or social-engineering content.
- Harass individuals or collect credentials under false pretenses.
- Violate export, sanctions, or privacy laws.
- Reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law.
- Resell the Service as a white-label product without a written agreement.
11. Customer content
You retain ownership of messages and configuration you submit (“Customer Content”). You grant CanWeChat a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display Customer Content solely to provide and secure the Service, including delivery to destinations you configure (inbox, Slack, Discord, Telegram, webhooks).
12. Third-party services
Optional integrations (Slack, Discord, Telegram) and infrastructure providers (including Cloudflare and Dodo Payments) are governed by their own terms. See Subprocessors. We are not responsible for third-party outages or policy changes outside our control.
13. AI and automation
Public docs may describe how AI coding agents can install the widget. CanWeChat does not currently sell an automated AI support agent that replies to visitors on your behalf. If you connect your own automation via webhooks, you remain responsible for that automation’s outputs and compliance.
14. Availability and support
We aim for high availability on Cloudflare’s edge network but do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime. Status updates: Status. Support is provided via email on a commercially reasonable basis without guaranteed response SLAs unless separately agreed in writing.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, legal risk, or abuse. You may stop using the Service and cancel as described above. Upon termination we will make export/deletion options available as described in the Privacy Policy and dashboard, subject to legal retention.
16. Intellectual property
The Service, branding, and documentation are owned by CanWeChat and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks except to identify your use of the Service factually.
17. Confidentiality
Non-public credentials, webhook secrets, and unpublished product information shared in support channels should be treated as confidential and used only to operate the Service.
18. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
19. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CANWECHAT’S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IN ANY TWELVE-MONTH PERIOD IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THAT PERIOD (OR USD $19 IF YOU ARE ON A FREE TRIAL). WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR LOST-PROFITS DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MINIMUM PERMITTED.
20. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify CanWeChat against claims arising from your Customer Content, your websites’ visitor interactions, your integration configurations, or your violation of these Terms or law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
21. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction of our principal place of business for the Service, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country apply. Courts in that jurisdiction have exclusive venue, except where law requires otherwise.
22. Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product notice when practical. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where law requires affirmative consent.
